About the Project

Welcome to Community Connectors for MMR Engagement, a community-driven project dedicated to helping parents make informed decisions about childhood immunisations and know why and how to access them. We aim to empower parents to help make their children the healthiest they can be.

There is a low uptake of childhood immunisations in Haringey and Enfield, so we're working with the North Central London Integrated Care Board to change that. We've partnered in Haringey and Enfield with a fantastic team of Community Connectors from the Turkish Cypriot Community Association (TCCA), House of Polish & European Community (HoPEC), Sewn Together, and Dalmar Heritage and Family Development.

With their help, we are working to understand parents' fears, concerns, and lack of knowledge about MMR vaccines and where to access the service. We've provided them with training, key information about MMR, and how to have good conversations with people about vaccines.

We're now working with them to co-produce the best way to address the barriers, fears, and hesitancy people have about immunisations and how to have better conversations.

Ultimately, this will provide better healthcare and health communication for all, improving the health outcomes of children, families, and their broader community in these areas, both now and in the future.

During a Coffee Morning session, the Community Connector provided translated materials on the benefits and safety of MMR vaccines. The mother expressed gratitude for the clear communication. This story highlights the importance of language accessibility in addressing health hesitancy.
