About the Project

Cancer experiences in underserved communities are not being captured through traditional NHS routes such as the National Cancer Experience Survey.  Without the rich diversity of experiences being shared, services, training, and care will continue to be commissioned and delivered as they always have.

That's why we've partnered with the North Central London Cancer Alliance and the House of Polish and European Community to deliver our Lifting the Lid project on the experiences of Polish & Eastern European residents in Central Haringey living with and through a cancer diagnosis. Through the project, we want to understand the barriers to sharing their experiences and how best to ensure diverse experiences are shared in ways that work for communities going forward, helping to improve cancer care for residents now and also in the future.

What we will do 

Throughout April and May, we will be delivering community engagement activities at Wood Green Library and invite residents from Eastern European communities living with cancer and their loved ones to join us for a series of workshops. Alongside this, we will create a bespoke survey to capture the experiences of people who do not wish to participate in our focus groups.

We want to hear the good, the bad and the ugly: we're all ears. Sharing is caring after all.
