Youth Echo

Welcome to Youth Echo

Youth Echo is a three-year programme funded by the City Bridge Foundation through the Propel Grant, designed to put young people at the heart of change in Haringey. The programme aims to empower young people to lead system change actions to tackle roots causes of racial inequity and interrelated poverty and violence through targeted actions

Working in partnership with North London Partnership Consortium and the Godwin Lawson Foundation, Youth Echo amplifies the voices of young people from Black and Minority Ethnic communities, supporting them to influence the systems and services that shape their lives. From health and education to employment and community safety, we create spaces where young people are not just heard, but actively shape solutions.

Through social action projects, mentoring, and pathways into employment, we equip young people with the skills, confidence, and opportunities to lead. The result is a growing movement of empowered young people driving meaningful change across their communities; their voices are not only valued, but impossible to ignore.

"I feel Youth Echo is an amazing approach in Haringey and one that is very unique in terms of how young people can be referred and offered support. I have found the team extremely kind, open, and transparent about what the goals are... Your team listens to the real concerns of young people in the community."

16 July 2025

As part of the Youth Echo Programme, the Godwin Lawson Foundation celebrated the second cohort of the GLF Young Speakers Network.  The event offered far more than an evening of speeches; it became a living testament to the extraordinary courage and commitment of young people who are determined to shape a better world.

During an eight-week period, a group of students took part in workshops and one-to-one mentorship to build up their confidence and discuss issues that were meaningful to them.

From the moment the first speaker took to the stage, it was very clear that this was a gathering rooted in authenticity. Each speaker was able to peel back layers of their lived experience, which sparked conversations amongst friends, family members, community leaders, and supporters who came together to witness this moment.

Topics ranged from feminism, the pressures young people face in the education system, the painful realities of racism and knife crime, reflections on gratitude, ethics, and what it truly means to be part of a community, reminding us about the harsh realities of society today.

"Gratitude, isn't about saying thank you. It's about feeling it"

Praise's speech - Importance of Gratitude

Beyond the words themselves, the evening shone as a celebration of what can happen when young voices are not only heard but truly supported.

Events like this reaffirm why investing in young people’s voices is not a luxury but a necessity. It is through such investment that we nurture a generation ready to question, challenge, and reimagine the world around them. Together, we witnessed more than speeches—we saw the future of change in action, alive with hope, conviction, and possibility.

Here’s to the young voices leading us forward and to all who make it possible for them to be heard.
