Home from Hospital: Ten Years of Volunteering For #VolunteersWeek, we're celebrating the fantastic commitment of Gladys, who has been volunteering at the Bridge for an incredible ten years. After being diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis, she was in a lot of pain, was feeling very low and had to stop working. Through attending ESOL at the Laurels she found out about the Bridge volunteering opportunities. Over the years, Gladys has volunteered with Home from Hospital, both visiting patients and spreading the word about the service to healthcare professionals. She has shared her love of cooking with people at the Bridge Community Hut and has spread the joy by volunteering at many Bridge events. We're so grateful for all of Gladys's support. "I love volunteering, it is so rewarding, it gives me pleasure, and I feel happy in myself. I feel less alone and more capable now. When you have problems, don't stay at home; help yourself by volunteering. It is nice for you and rewarding. It can help solve your problems." Gladys's commitment and wisdom are truly inspiring.
