Tackling Heart Health Together From the start of Ramadan (17 Feb) to the end of March, we partnered with West Green GP Surgery and various community organisations to improve heart health in Haringey. From Wightman Road Mosque to Hornsey Food Bank and Chestnuts Community Centre, teams of volunteers were trained and supported to conduct Blood Pressure screenings and offer basic health guidance. In this short time, our colleagues' and volunteers' interventions meant that more than 200 community members had their blood pressure checked, with the vast majority reporting an improved understanding of its importance. We identified more than 30 cases of raised blood pressure among residents, signposting them to medical support services to ensure prompt action. The success of this project clearly demonstrates that bringing health checks into trusted spaces is an effective approach to improving health outcomes. We look forward to building on this in the coming months. Manage Cookie Preferences
