24 July 2025

The Bridge Summer Fest 2025 was our biggest yet, with over 600 people joining in the fun at Chestnuts Community Centre and Park. The day was a time to celebrate as a community and marked 15 years since the Bridge was founded.

The day was hosted by three young people: Daniella, Milton and Rafik, who have each completed the Public Speaking training as part of our Youth Echo Programme. They demonstrated these skills throughout the day, in particular during two speeches - one given on safety, and the other about the challenges posed by vaping to young people.

Summer Fest had something for everyone, showcasing the fantastic range of activities on offer in Chestnuts Community Centre throughout the year.

Zainab, our resident personal trainer, kicked things off with a cardio and belly dancing session that was enjoyed by people of all ages, including our Chief Executive, who showed off his moves!

The Capoeira group then took to the stage, delivering an incredible performance with many children keen to join in (watch this space for a children's session to be delivered at Chestnuts in the future).  Children enjoyed activities including pancake making, face painting, football, tennis sessions, and a bouncy castle.

Sewn Together delivered crafting activities using refuse objects, and the Eco House project helped highlight ways in which residents could live more sustainably. Tottenham Talking delivered one of their soothing crafting sessions, which was popular with everyone who took part, and many residents enjoyed a drumming workshop. Free massages and fitness assessments were available on the day, with many people taking up the offer.

30+ local voluntary sector organisations showcased their incredible support on offer, as well as projects the Bridge is delivering across Haringey to help reduce health inequalities.

We were honoured to be joined by Joanne McCartney, the Deputy Mayor of London, Deputy Mayor for Children and Families and long-time supporter of the Bridge (pictured) said:

"The Bridge makes Haringey a better place for all of us and does fantastic work for this community.
Since meeting Geoffrey 15 years ago at the Triangle Centre, I have seen this organisation grow and grow and expand the work it is doing in the local community. Today is a testament to the work that the Bridge Renewal Trust has done."
We were also joined by the Deputy Mayor of Haringey, Michelle Simmons-Safo (pictured below), who officiated over an award ceremony to mark the dedication of long-serving staff, volunteers, and local grassroots organisations, without whom we wouldn't be able to achieve all we have over the last 15 years.

Special mention goes to Godwin Lawson Foundation, Sewn Together, and the Turkish Cypriot Community Association (pictured), with whom we have partnered to deliver many successful projects over the years.

Local legends Candy Dance Stars packed out the dance studio, delivering a joy-filled performance. The day ended with a moving and powerful Bullerengue performance delivered from Chestnut's balcony.

The day showcased the best of Haringey communities, and was a celebration of the values we have as an organisation: community, partnership and opportunity.

We couldn't have done it without a fantastic team of volunteers behind the scenes. Special mention goes to the volunteer team from Malborough Highways for all their energy and support, making the day such a success.
