Improving Health and Well-Being with HoPEC 10 March 2026 As Part of our Co-Production Project, the House of Polish and Eastern European Communities delivered an afternoon of health and well-being at the Wood Green Library in partnership with the local NHS GPs. The afternoon brought together health and well-being services from across Haringey, all in one space. GPs provided health checks and advice and guidance on how to navigate support from other services in the borough that can help residents improve their health. "It was really helpful to check my blood pressure and talk to someone about my health. I didn’t realise my blood pressure could be high, so it’s good to know and get advice. The healthy food was lovely. It gave me some ideas about what I can eat to help keep my blood pressure under control.” As well as Hepatitis blood tests: “I decided to take the Hepatitis B and C test while I was here. It was quick and the team explained everything clearly, which made me feel comfortable.” Monika Janusauskiene, Director of HoPEC (pictured on the right), reflected on the importance of the day: "As an organisation working closely with the community, we recognise the importance of providing accessible health support in familiar and welcoming spaces. Through partnership working with the NHS and local services, we can bring important health checks, advice, and preventive services directly to residents. Events like this demonstrate the value of collaborative community health initiatives. They help raise awareness, encourage early testing, and support residents in making healthier lifestyle choices."
