Become a Peer Researcher in a Dementia and Mental Health Study Would you like to learn new skills and contribute to research that aims to tackle the growing challenges of mental health problems and dementia within different communities? Our North Central London Research Engagement Network is supporting a University College London research study around dementia and mental health, called CHATTER - Co-produced cHaracterisation of AffecTive Thoughts in agEing and dementia Research. The CHATTER team want to understand how everyday thinking can influence brain health. They are looking for 12 people who have lived experience and come from a range of backgrounds, known as peer researchers. The peer researchers will help identify the traits of everyday thoughts and create a "code-book", which they would then use to label thoughts in real-life examples. Why is this research being done? The CHATTER team want to make research more representative and inclusive to better understand dementia and mental health, and develop better treatments and care for all. Research has not yet been able to capture fully how thoughts (both positive and negative) shape health, particularly across different communities and lived experiences. Anyone over the age of 18 can apply to be a peer researcher, particularly people: of Black and South Asian heritage and/or who have a less formal education (i.e. did not go to university) and/or are from a lower social class as the above populations have a significantly higher risk of developing dementia but are hugely under-represented in research. How to apply Please read through the peer researcher recruitment pack which gives more information about the study and the peer researcher role. Download the Peer Research Recruitment Pack At the bottom of the document is a link to the application form. For ease, please find the link below CHATTER Peer Researcher Application Form The last day to apply is Friday 15th May.
